About Us
Leave No One Behind
We are a knowledge-sharing, research-based platform focused on accessible ocean tourism. Our mission is to curate and share research, insights, and resources that support more inclusive and equitable ocean travel experiences, aligned with the United Nations principle of ‘leaving no one behind.’ We welcome researchers, practitioners, and contributors to share articles, interviews, insights, and relevant initiatives for inclusion in our newsletters and platform features, fostering collaboration across the ecosystem.
- Our initiative was founded through research informed by global case studies, field observations, and interdisciplinary findings on accessibility, marine tourism, and ocean stewardship. This work highlighted systemic barriers to ocean access and the need for evidence-based, inclusive frameworks within coastal and marine tourism. We integrate research, education, and community engagement to advance Accessible Ocean Tourism as a sustainable and equitable model. Recognizing that meaningful change requires collective effort, we actively seek collaboration with organizations, institutions, and practitioners across sectors. We invite partners to join us in co-creating a shared platform that expands access, strengthens conservation outcomes, and supports inclusive ocean engagement worldwide.
- Ocean tourism is inherently well-suited to a wide spectrum of travellers—children and young people who delight in beach play or snorkelling, adults and families seeking adventure or relaxation, seniors favouring scenic cruising or gentle coastal walks, and people with access needs who benefit from inclusive design of facilities.

Alignment with the 2030 Agenda and UN principles
The UN 2030 Agenda emphasises that tourism must contribute to sustainable development: SDG 8 (promote inclusive and sustainable economic growth, employment), SDG 12 (sustainable consumption and production) and SDG 14 (life below water) all reflect tourism’s role. In the context of oceans, marine tourism can deliver jobs and enterprise for coastal communities while helping conserve the very natural assets that attract travellers. The UN notes that “the relationship between tourism and the ocean is deeply intertwined… tourism depends on healthy coastal and marine ecosystems” and calls for “low-carbon, nature positive and socially inclusive coastal and marine tourism”. The principle of “leave no one behind” is implicit in accessible tourism frameworks: everyone—regardless of age, ability or background—should have the chance to enjoy and benefit from tourism experiences.
Inclusive Ocean Knowledge Hub for Sustainable Living
This platform is a community knowledge hub and research initiative where visionary thinkers, researchers, and practitioners come together to discuss and exchange solutions for healthy lives on a healthy planet.
We are dedicated to generating and sharing objective and accurate knowledge on accessible ocean tourism, inclusive hospitality, beach tourism, water sports, and scuba activities. Our focus is on promoting inclusivity by actively involving disabled communities and youth in ocean conservation efforts, in alignment with the UN Ocean Decade 2030 goals.
The platform also encourages ocean literacy among students and youth, fostering awareness, learning, and active engagement with marine and coastal ecosystems. In addition, it supports training and certification programs through the Handicapped Scuba Association (HSA), enabling inclusive access to scuba diving and ocean experiences.
As a community-driven knowledge and research hub, we provide this platform as a free and open resource to support learning, meaningful dialogue, and shared understanding among diverse stakeholders.
